My dad said my Uncle may have gone to Woodstock. Apparently he was a hippy and sent to Mexico to find himself. Im not sure that could be possible for him to have sometime been a hippy because he is a doctor.
I thought Woodstock was too much. It seemed worse then ACL, and ACL is miserable, so many people you can't even walk. I managing that Woodstock was a big deal back then because no body had that big of concerts. There where some weird thing in the movie too. When the yoga guy was showing how to get high by doing yoga, and everybody was extremely high. The who sounds really different I think, I don't know what it is though.

I was blown away that The Band wrote there lyrics by writing a 1 line lyric every time they left or entered the house they lived in. Since they all lived together each line was deifferent ad the lyrics are so good. Weight by the band was really good lyrically and sounded really great as well. I'm just think its really cool to write lyrics like that.
I was watching a KLRU on Tuesday night, and a show was on that I thought was really interesting. It was about bands in the sixties that went on the Ed Sulivan show. If you where a music group and wanted to be big and make it in music then you have to play on that show, because the show was so popular. I saw that the Rolling Stones have been on the show 4 times and the Beatles I think 2 or 3. Since there was not a lot of channels in the 60's every person watched this show so it was a great way for bands to show themselfs.

I've been listening to a lot of Bright Eyes lately. It's an indie rock band found by singer/guitarist Connor Oberst. Connor is also in several other bands I enjoy like, Desaparecidos and the Script.

Here is a bright eyes song
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ztGPYPArAyE

His voice is not the best, but in a way it's like Bob Dylan's. Not because they sound alike, because they both
Have a worn down, sad feel to it. I like that a lot, because it perfectly matches he's lyrics. I like his style of
writing and singing.
I saw Bright Eyes at ACL in 2011. They sounded great live.

I love the White album by Beatles  but they over did it with having too many songs on it. Paul is actually pretty good at playing the drums. Obla-di Obla-da is such a good song. It always brings a smile to my face. I am curious to why the beatles fell apart towards the end of therer career. Was it a personal thing or was it that the times had changed. I feel like yoko ono turned John away from the beatles, but im not entirely sure.
The Jimi hendrix Album that we listened to on Tuesday was not that great in my opinion. I love Jimi hindrix but some of his music sound the same and feel the same. Now, Jimi Hendrix Experience is a great album, his best one I think. I also think it's cool that The beatles came out with the foundation of metal, and set up music for led Zeplin.

I'm not a big fan of Pink Floyd, but I kind of like Dark side of the moon. The lyrics are kind of weird but I like the music they make. It fits together though, when I here them I don't really care about how good the lyrics are the music makes it sound good even though the lyrics might suck. They are definetly not one of my favorite bands.
Magical Mystery Tour is not one of my favorite albums by the Beetles. I did like it a lot though because I am a walrus is one of my favorite songs by the beetles. The beginning of the album was alright. I thought it was too slow and did not fit the rest of the album. But The Fool on the Hill sounds really good, I like that song a lot. The second half of the Album is really good. I think that Ringo killed on the drums.

Make up blog #2
Jimi Hendrix is my favorite artist in history. He is one of my idols. He persuaded me to start playing the guitar. He was such a big inspiration to rock it is crazy. He sang and played guitar at the same time which was fantastic because he shredded on the guitar and lyrics were good. Plus he was black so that was unbelievable during that time for him to be destroying the rock scene. By far the best guitarist in my opinion.
Make up blog #1

Rock and roll has kind of branched out in different kinds of rock. Grunge, metal, garage, cans crazy drug rock.  I like the crunge rock because nirvana is one o my favorite bands. I'm not a big fan of metal because its to heavy or me. Garage sounds ok in my opinion. I would not listen to it for a long period of time though. And the crazy rock stuff sounds so cool. The Beatles do a great job on that kind of rock in Lucy in the sky with diamonds.

I've been thinking about learning how to play guitar lately. Since ACL I've been thinking about it. The feeling of playing on stage just seems amazing. I'm kind of exited to start playing because I've always wanted to be in a band when i was younger.
At the beginning of this class I was not a fan of The Rolling Stones. I did not like them at all, they sounded terrible to me. We started to listen to their early music and again, I did not like them. The other day we listened to Aftermath. It blew my mind start to finish. Paint it black is my favorite song by them so that was a great opening track to start of the album. I'm getting to used to Jagger's voice as we go on.

While I was at ACL, I was disappointed in Neil Young a little bit. I love neil young, but he did not play any of is popular songs, which was sad because i was curious to see how his soft country songs would have been  fixed into a rock and roll sound. Another let down was M83. They did not really step up their game for what I saw. Music was to quite and they did not exite me. My favorite part of ACL was Weezer. They killed it. They perform with such accuracy sound almost exactly like in a studio.
I've noticed recently that there are two types of concerts. Ones that you actually go to and ones that you can live stream of the internet. I was at a restaurant on the Sunday of ACL weekend. And I pulled my phone up and started live streaming the Red Hot Chili Peppers while I was eating dinner. It was pretty cool, then I started to think about how it kind of ruins the experience of going to a live concert. The atmosphere at concert is so much more exiting and the music sounds way better live than on a computer or a phone. I rather be at a concert than watch it on a computer.

I plan on seeing Neil Young and crazy horse on saturday night along with Red Hot Chili Peppers on sunday night. Im also exicted for the shines and Two door Cinema Club. Ive recently gotten into them and im glae they are coming this year. I hope that Mumford and Sons will come next year.
I just came back from day 1 of ACL, and lets just say it was amazing. I saw ben howard which reminded me alot of Paul McCartney. I saw weezer too and they where probably the best bad at friday. So Good.

I wish we could listen to more Bob Dylan. I'm not a really big county/folk person but he makes me like it a little bit. His lyrics are deep and his voice really brings out the realness of it. He reminds me a lot of Johnny Cash. Speaking of Johnny Cash, I think he is kind of important to Rock and roll. That would be cool if we got to learn and listen of how he influenced rock.
What I have noticed that I think is pretty cool about the Beatles albums and the Beatles movies. Is that the technology is getting better very fast. Color was coming into play with the Help movie while the Hard days night was not in color. The recording technology is also getting better and more techniques are being made up. The Beatles are making very early hip hop and they don't even know it.

It surprises me that The Who was not as popular as the Rolling Stones in 1964. They obviously had way better talent in there instruments and had way better songs at the time. But they got more popular around 1970.
Just listen to this. It is just terrible... You cant even compare it
I'm really looking forward to the Beatles making the transition of making music about more important things besides women. Rubber Soul is diffidently one of my favorite albums by the Beatles by far. I can't even compare how bad the Rolling stones look compared to the Beatles. The beatles are simply amazing, I love the atmosphere they display on the listener.

I'm really excited for taking this class because it has brought me to listening the great bands of all time. I have never really been into the beatles, Jerry lee lewis, Evlis presley, and Stevie wonder. This class has brought back my passion for great music over the past century. When we got introduced to Bod dylans first album I was shocked to how good he was. I love the realness of his voice and lyrics. Ive never heard any of Bod dylan before hand until this class. Also after we go over an artist in class, I go home and search for there music and listen as i do homework. I cant believe i was missing all of the music talent.
A lot of people may disagree with me but I really don't like the rolling stones. They write some ok songs here and there but nothing really stands out to me. Part of the reason is because the sound of Jaggers voice is like listening to an old man gargling glass shards. Its really annoying. Plus they are not that great at there instruments. Compared to the Beatles, the Rolling Stones are absolute crap in my mind.

I can't wait for the rest of the Beatles albums. When they are all shit faced in the studio jamming out. I would have loved to live in that time to go see them in concerts. Despite all the little girls screaming. I think it would be a very interesting time to live in also.
I don't think that there will ever be a band that made that big of an impact on America than the Beatles. the reason why is because Rock And Roll has not been around for a while when the Beatles first came to america. So it was a big deal, especially for younger people. Most of the live performances show screaming teens going ape shit on over john and ringo. The thing is about them is that they where so likable. They where funny, sexy, and awesome at there instruments. No band  has really done what the Beatles did when they first came to USA. I think it will stay that way because rock and roll is kind of fading away. I know, it's sad and stupid. But you can kind of see that pop and hip hop is making its scene.

I think rock and roll has been around in history more than we know actually. For instance the people in the mid evil times. They banged on drums and sand folk music. That is early rock. Not the rock that we listen to today but rock that was rebellious to them.

I'm not really a big fan of the Beatles older stuff. Mostly because all they write about it girls. But after they find pot, LSD, and other drugs.(thanks to Bod Dylan) That's when I really like to listen to them. Songs like Lucy and the skies with diamonds, and strawberry fields are forever just seems like they are all tripping out in the recording room doing what they love, playing music. And that's why I like the Beatles. My Favorite album is probably Abbey Road because they are all having fun with it, and that's what rock and roll is about.

Ever band or great musician has a little style or twirk to doing something. One of my favorites is Chuck berry and his famous guitar intro. It reminds me of the beach boys a little bit.
You should check out Modest Mouse. They write some pretty deep stuff. One of my favorite songs by them is Bukowski.
